French - Scandinavian meeting
The purpose of these encounters was articulated around the second expo of French artist, Nicolas Thomas; it’s all about exchange. Speaking for a generation of European artists, SpaceJunk tries to be eclectic in its choice of the nationalities these artists represent.
Scandinavia seemed to define itself around these artists as Europe’s avant-garde. Very open to the culture of youth, the talent of artists from the Board Culture is well-recognized; take for example the “First We Take Museums” show in Kiasma (the modern art museum of Helsinki - Finlande) or “Skate Culture” at the Preus Museum (Norwegian national photography museum). We present here the ‘outgoing’ part of the project which consisted of meeting national artists in their country around one of the major artists from the milieu. These encounters lead up to the artists coming from Scandinavia to France to present their work in SpaceJunk galleries in front of the widest possible audience. So here are a few of the works by Janne Saario, Bjorn Mortensen and Pontus Alv.
